SOCCER

FALL SOCCER

Mid-Way Baptist offers soccer programs for children from ages 4 to 12 years old. Our soccer leagues are designed to teach and develop a player's skills while incorporating good sportsmanship with a positive Christian influence. We encourage you to reach out to other families in your community and invite them to register for this exciting, fun, and healthy sports opportunity.

We believe that it is important for parents to be involved in their children’s overall development. Volunteering your time is a great way to let your child know that you are committed to them. Each team will require a Head Coach and Assistant Coach. If you are interested in helping, please contact Kevin Hinton for an application.

Teams will practice once per week for one hour. League practice sessions will occur on Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays. Practice times will be from 6:00pm - 7:00pm & 7:00pm - 8:00pm. You will be notified of your child's scheduled practice time prior to the start date. Please ensure your child is ready to participate by providing the necessary sports equipment prior to their first practice.

Games will begin September 7, 2024 and conclude October 12, 2024. Our Soccer season runs for 6 concurrent weeks. Games will be played at Mid-Way Ballfield for 4-6 year old's and Wake Christian Academy Ballfield for 7-12 year old's. Games will be on Saturdays between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm and will last for 1 hour. Game schedules will be emailed to parents.

All age groups will play 7 vs. 7 on an 80’ x 120’ field. Every player will be given the opportunity to play at least 1/2 of each game. The fee for this league is $75 which includes a jersey, referee fees, and an "end of the season" participation gift. Fees must be paid before first game or child will not be allowed to play.

Our Soccer league is coed. We focus on good sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill development. You can expect your child to be taught each of these important life skills. We will also work with them to develop basic skills such as kicking, passing, dribbling, and shooting on goal. As they advance, they will be taught more advanced drills and footwork.

TEAM PLACEMENTS

Our goal is to create “equally skilled teams” and accommodate parents, when possible. If siblings are participating in the same league, we endeavor to place them on the same team, if parents desire. We will also try to allow team preference, if space is available. Please use "Do you have a coach or player that you would like to request being on their team?" on registration page. This is at league Pastor's discretion! If your child has been assigned a team, this will be their team for the season.

EQUIPMENT

Equipment requirements for this league include soccer cleats, shin guards, socks high enough up the leg to cover the shin guards, and sports shorts, preferably without pockets. You will also need to have a size 4 soccer ball with child’s name clearly written in permanent marker.

SPORTSMANSHIP

Parents, please remember that participation in our Sports program is a privilege and not a right. Our expectation is that parents will respect and appreciate our volunteer coaches, officials, and Sports Pastor. At all times, please respect our grounds and property. Soccer should be fun for everyone involved. Adults should always be an example to the children watching them.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

If assistance is needed, please write in the Additional Comments section. This must be approved by the Sports Pastor.
