Did you ever realize we are all in transition in every season of our lives? We are transitioning at every turn and with every situation or circumstance. Romans 8:28 says “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” So thankfully, we know The One who uses the good, the bad, and the ugly and He alone will continue to use all to His glory in our transformation.
In the past four years of my life, I have mourned the loss of our 33-year-old son, Justin. Within the last two years I packed and moved out of our house in Cary, moved into a sweet rental where we found our church family, stood guard while my husband had three surgeries and a serious hospital stay in the ICU. I watched our son-in-law build our house; faced my husband’s lay off and retirement; dealt with finances during inflation; joined a new church; endured the loss of a dear friend and moved again. After all, seemed to settle, felt God’s call to leave Bible Study Fellowship after 29 years. I’ve been in a place of solitude. Could it have been worse? Absolutely. But the emotional state of each situation had me holding my breathe at times. The stress of those situations affected my health, and a dear doctor told me I needed to learn how to breathe again. Have you been there? When circumstances or the world around you tend to cloud the view of what you once knew? I found myself feeling like Elijah must have felt when he was sent to Cherith (1Kings 17:1-7). Remember when Elijah was fed by the ravens and told to drink from the brook until it ran dry?
Leaving the lush lawn and pristine landscaping I once had, and moving to red hard clay and rock has been challenging. Everywhere I turn it is new. At 67 years old, It is difficult, and I tend to want to go back to those who know me intimately and love me without question. But as I look at Elijah, I am reminded of the faithfulness God the Father has shown me in my Cherith.
Our seasons of life in transition are, in essence, a huge part of the transformation process. Once we understand that the path leading us to our Cherith is of the Lord, and that He is with us in the journey, our peace returns, and our strength is regained. If you feel you are questioning where you are and what God is doing, you are not alone. You are to call upon His name in truth and recognition of who He is and who you belong to. You are priceless and precious and valued in His sight, and you are not alone.
1 Corinthians 1:9
“God is faithful through whom you were called into fellowship
with His Son, Jesus Christ Our Lord.”
Isaiah 43:18-19
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert
and streams in the wasteland.”
Psalm 143:8
“Let the morning bring me work of Your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in You.
Show me the way I should go, for to You I lift up my soul.
Psalm 145:8
“The Lord is near to all who call upon His name, to all who call on Him in truth.”
Prayer Points-

· Ask Him to help you grow in faith, character, and endurance.
· Plow through with praise, no matter how difficult the situation.
Father God,
Your grace and mercy are new every morning, and I praise You for that. You and You alone, are the only One who knows where my heart longs to be. Thank You for carrying, enabling, sustaining and blessing me in this journey. You alone are my desire. I don’t know the plans You have set before me, but I know they are to prosper me and not to harm me. Thank You for carrying me through difficult and painful situations beyond my control. Being in transition is not an easy place to be, but I trust Your guiding hand. Please use me for Your glory and for Your purpose as I am your willing vessel. Thank You for the transitions and transformation that You are working within me and trusting me with. God, help me see You before I get there, and please don’t allow me to go ahead of You because You are The Perfect Planner. Lord God, may You never stop working with me as I submit to Your will.
In Jesus’ Name, the Name above all Names.
Amen.
In Christ,
Nikki Fenske
