I love living in North Carolina and the four seasons we experience here. I used to
be a summer girl, never wanting it to end. I would dread the start of school because that meant less time outside and the approaching of the cold weather months. However, as I’m finding out, you change when you get older. When it turned September 1 this week, I was SO excited because that meant it was one week closer to Fall. I can picture the leaves changing and the mornings getting cooler. I’m so excited for apple cider and to wear sweaters and boots again and to play outside more with my kids. This Fall season is so exciting to me as well because I am due to have my third baby in the next month, Lord willing. I can’t wait to experience this upcoming season as a new family of five!
When I was thinking about what to write for the email this week, I thought about the word “seasons.” In the Book of Ecclesiastes, Solomon writes about different or opposing seasons that a person experiences in their life.
“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven”
Ecclesiastes 3:1
Solomon goes on to say that there is “A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted; A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing; A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away; A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak; A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war, And a time of peace.” (Ecclesiastes 3:2-8).
I don’t know about you, but I resonate with Solomon’s words here. When I sit and reflect on my life, I can see the ebb and flow of different seasons. I have two beautiful and wild boys. Their births and their lives have brought about so much joy for me and my family. I’ve also experienced seasons of grief and loss, like the babies I have in heaven due to multiple miscarriages. Through every season of my life, God has been so faithful and so constant. That’s one of the things I love most about the Lord. I know that I can trust in His timing, even though I might not understand His timing. He uses these different seasons of life to grow us in our walk with Him and to increase our faith.
What season of life are you currently experiencing? It may be a season of joy or grief, or a season of uprooting things in your life that either need to be pruned or no longer need to be planted. Maybe it’s a season of harvest, where you are reaping the goodness of what has been planted in your life. One thing I know, God sees the entirety of our lives – the whole picture. We can trust that He is working out His perfect plan for our lives for His glory and our good. Trust in God’s timing!
Prayer Points:
• Lord, help me to trust in Your timing.
• Lord, remind me that You see the whole picture of my life – every season serves to
draw me closer to You and increase my faith in You.
• Lord, I believe that Your ways are good.
• Lord, help me to humbly accept Your timing.
• Lord, when I am experiences seasons of harvest, let me thank You for being the giver
of all good things.
• Lord, when I am experiencing seasons of grief, fear, or loss, let me respond with prayer
right away, giving You my concerns.
Father God,
I come before You in the mighty Name of Jesus. I thank You for your Sovereign hand throughout my life. I thank You that despite seasons changing and circumstances changing, You never change. You are constant and consistent. I thank You that You use every aspect of my life to teach me and mold me and draw me closer to You. Will you help me in this season of ________? I want to keep you first and trust in Your good plan for me. Will You help me to bring you the most glory I can in this season of my life?
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
In Christ,
Kaitlyn Beaton
