Read the Word of God

When I was a teenager, my mom taught a Ladies Bible Study at Church. I remember most days getting home from school and she would have her large Study Bible and all the paraphernalia out on the Kitchen Table. That visual was impactful to me. I always knew that I could trust my mom to always lead me in the right direction because she trusted God! I saw her as a wise woman of God who knew His Word! She didn’t have to tell me that she was those things, but I saw evidence in her life. She never shied away from telling me Godly Truth when I asked her opinion about a relationship or God’s Plan for my life! I didn’t always like what she said, but I knew in my heart it was Truth!

I am very thankful for my “Bible App,” I see it as a valuable tool to have immediate access to God’s Word. However, there is something so powerful about seeing someone in public with an actual Bible! It is a visual evidence of “what they are all about.” With Mother’s Day approaching this weekend, I am reminded of how great a platform Moms have in the lives of their children and it can all begin with just your kids seeing you read the Bible! I have a good friend who taught me years ago, when my own kids were tiny, to let them see me reading the Bible! And Not just Moms! We all have a platform in this world, we have good days and bad days, but showing the world that we go to our Foundation, our live-giving source of truth in the good and the bad speaks truth about what we as believers are all about- Weak humans in need of a daily Savior!

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."

II Timothy 3:16

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you,

with meekness and fear."

I Peter 3:15

A little challenge for us all this week: Take your Bible out! Let our kids and spouses see us reading it instead of our phones or other books! Maybe even take our Bible to the Coffee shop where we get work done in the mornings, or out on our front porch where the neighbors walk by! It is a Powerful visual and can encourage and inspire others to seek God.

Prayer points:

  • Let my life speak of whom I believe in and what is most important to me.

  • I pray that others would see that I value God’s Word above all else.

  • God help me to reflect You in my daily world! How I spend my time.

Dear God,

Thank You for Your Word! It is All-Powerful in our lives! I pray that we would be bold in proclaiming what we believe about You and Your Word. Please guide us each day in Your Truth and Wisdom and help us to boldly teach it to other people that you put in front of us. Thank You for being our Teacher and Guide this day. In the Name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Your Friend,

Brandi Loch
