Recently, I have been going through the book,” Emmanuel” by Ruth Chou Simons. It’s an advent study that goes through the month of December, which leads us into Christmas. I have been so encouraged by this study. This week, I really liked the day about how God is our "Wonderful Counselor". This day talked about lacking wisdom or struggling with unknowns in specific seasons. Currently, I am in this season of feeling completely in the dark with unknowing why He is allowing certain situations to happen. He is refining me in this season where I am realizing that He is the only one who is all wise all-knowing and all powerful. I take comfort in knowing that He knows the outcome, even if I can’t see it right now.
He is the Wonderful Counselor who is the only one who can truly give us help and hope. When we don’t understand the purpose of something, He does. He is the only one who can understand our hearts, He handles our questions and concern with ease. He is the Father of Wisdom who ultimately knows the outcome for everything.
“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given.
And the government will be upon his shoulder.
And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice.
From that time forward, even forever.”
Isaiah 9:6-7
“For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.”
1 John 3:20
“God is our Lord and is mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.”
Psalm 147:5
After reading these verses, I have found that the Lord is the only true source of wisdom. We lack the knowledge that He has. He is omniscient and has the final answer to ever question. Regardless of what questions or problems we have, we can have faith and trust that He is our Wonderful Counselor who we can rely on with everything. Regardless of what you are going through this Christmas season, it’s important to still bring our burdens and concerns to the Lord. It’s a very busy time of year, but He is the ultimate source of wisdom and strength, and that strength is freely available to us today!
Prayer Points: Please pray over these requests:
· God, I ask that You help me to trust your plans instead of my own.
· God, I ask that You help me to come to You when I am unsure of the outcome.
· Help me to experience You as the “Wonderful Counselor” this Christmas season.
· God, please provide me with wisdom and strength.
· Help me to boldly proclaim Your name.
Dear Father,
Thank You for being our Wonderful Counselor. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to die for our sins. God, I ask that You help me to trust Your plans instead of my own. Please help me to come to You when I am concerned about a certain situation. I pray that I will experience You as a Wonderful Counselor this Christmas season. Please provide me with wisdom and strength. I pray that I never take for granted the freedom I have to be able to talk to You. I pray for boldness to tell others about You and what You have done in my life. Thank You for who You are.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Your Friend,
Stephanie Madore
