Pray Surrendered to God's Will - 9.25.20

You are such a blessing to me! Just to know that you are reading this and praying makes my heart so joyful and thankful to have women like you use your prayers to bless our church!  How do we pray when we are not sure what to pray? Many times, we pray according to what we want or need, or what we feel is best. But we don't always know what God wants for our lives.  I have found myself in this very situation over and over. Of course, I know what I feel is the right answer to my prayer! But what if God chooses to answer it in a different way? How can we be certain that we are even praying for the right thing?  One thing that I have prayed is "Lord, please close the door that you don't want me to walk through. And Lord, please open the door that you do want me to walk through. Make it clear to me so that I don't miss it." This way of approaching God shows that we desire His will above ours.  Prayer Tip #20 - Pray Surrendered to God's Will

Jesus is our ultimate example in this. He prayed for what He wanted "take this cup away from Me" but He added that He ultimately wanted God's purpose and plans for His life to be accomplished.   "And He was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw,  and He knelt down and prayed, saying,  "Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me;  nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done." - Luke 22:41-42  That's how I encourage you to pray. Ask God for what you would like to be done, but then express your devotion to Him no matter what His decision is, whatever His will, plan, and purpose is- "Not my will, but Yours be done." A mark of spiritual maturity is desiring God's will above ours. Yes, it's hard, but it's also wise because we can't see the beginning from the end, and we don't have the full knowledge of any situation like God does. Because He is all-knowing, He has a vantage point that we cannot see. We must trust that He has a good plan for our lives and surrendering to that plan is best for us. This is where FAITH comes in!

Call a Friend! -We encourage you to keep reaching out to a friend to pray together! Maybe you need to initiate this. Remember, where two or three are gathered, He is in their midst!  Prayer Points - (Pray over these requests)

  • God, I pray that ultimately Your perfect will has free reign in my life.

  • God, I surrender my desires to You, knowing that You are good and righteous and I can trust You with my hopes, dreams, future and life.

  • God, I declare that Your plan for my life is greater and than any plans I can accomplish on my own.

  • God, I ask that Your perfect will is also accomplished in Mid-Way Baptist Church, through Pastor Grant, our Church Staff, Leadership and Congregation. Please lead us, guide us and direct us as a church family to be in the center of Your will.

SUGGESTED PRAYER - Dear God, I come before You in Jesus' Name, and I surrender to Your perfect will and plans for my life. I declare that You are Lord over every detail of my life and I want You to be glorified in and through me. I pray that Your perfect will has free reign in my life. I surrender my desires, my hopes, dreams, future and life  to You, the Creator and sustainer of my life. You are good, holy, and righteous and I trust You completely to accomplish Your will in me. I believe by faith that Your plan for my life is greater than anything I can create on my own. God, I want to please You and honor You, so please set my feet on the path that You have for me. Open every door that You want me to walk through, and close every door that You don't want me to walk through.  Lord, I also ask for Your perfect will to be done in Mid-Way Baptist Church. Please guide and direct Pastor Grant, the staff, and leadership to be in line and full agreement with Your plans and purposes. Please use Your guiding hand to direct and bless every member of our Church family.  In Jesus' Name, Amen.
