Pray for revival to come to your heart

Women’s Prayer Team - Week 7

Many of you have seen or heard about the students lingering long after the chapel service at Asbury College and what God is doing there. What started as a normal chapel service, with a simple message about experiencing the love of God, continued on. The speaker challenged the students to embrace the love of God so they can pour it out and become love in action to a lost world. He asked the Lord to produce fruit in the students and to revive them by His love. Then, worship was led by the students. Several students stayed in prayer and worship. Ten hours later, the room was packed. More came back to chapel and joined them, staying long into the night. This has continued for many days now.

When I see college students worshiping God, on their knees, staying in a chapel service long after it was over, I see God at work. Students are repenting of sin, and lingering in God's presence. What is our response and what should our response be? We are responsible for ourselves. This has caused me to look inward to my own heart and ask for God to bring revival to me personally. It has caused me to praise God that He is still at work in this generation! It has reminded me that God can work in and through anyone that He wants, at any time that He wants, and in any way that He wants.

My challenge to you is to pray for the Lord to bring revival to your own heart. Let's reject cynicism and embrace humility and joy that the Lord is moving in our generation!

Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things,

And revive me in Your way.

Establish Your word to Your servant,

Who is devoted to fearing You.

Turn away my reproach which I dread,

For Your judgments are good.

Behold, I long for Your precepts;

Revive me in Your righteousness..

Psalm 119:37-40

As we see God move, let's look inward and ask God to do in us what He is doing among these college students who are seeking Him.

PRAYER TIP #7 – Pray for Revival to come to Your Heart.

Let's not just pray for revival to come, but for revival to come to us - our own hearts. Let's pray for personal revival. It starts with us repenting and crying out to the Lord personally, and humbling ourselves before Him.

For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity,

whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place,

With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Isaiah 57:15

Prayer Points:

  • Lord, I praise You for the way You are working in college campuses across our nation.

  • Holy Spirit, come have Your will and way in my life. I surrender to You.

  • Lord, bring revival to me, personally. Please bring revival to me, my family, my church and my city.

  • Lord, I humble myself before You and I repent of this specific sin: __________________. Help me to desire Your will above all. Thank You for Your forgiveness.

  • Lord, I praise You that Your faithfulness extends to all generations.

Suggested Prayer - Pray these words in your heart or out loud:

Father God,

I come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, and I humble myself before You. Lord, I ask You to bring revival to my heart. Please bring revival to my family, my church, and my city. You are Almighty God and I praise You for pouring out Your Holy Spirit in my generation. Lord, I repent of all the sin in my life, and I specifically repent of __________________. Lord, I need Your Holy Spirit to empower me and guide me to live the life that You want me to live. Jesus, come have Your will and way in me.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

In Christ Alone,
