Live a Life for the Lord

Updated: Jul 5

First off, I want to say Happy New Year to you and your family! I always love the New Year because of new beginnings, new goals, new challenges, etc. I hope this year can be a new beginning for you if you have not had a good year or if difficult circumstances have occurred.

For me, these past few months have been months of no motivation. I have not been motivated to be in the Word, get dressed, go to work, go on a walk (which I am used to doing every day), get out of the house, hang out with friends, etc. Yes, I am pregnant, however, I don't want to use that as an excuse not to be motivated to do anything.

A few weeks ago, I told my husband that I have not been motivated to be in the Word. I am glad I told him this because he has been the one motivating me to be in the Word everyday since then.

"For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again."

2 Corinthians 5:14-15

"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God,

who loved me and gave Himself for me."

Galatians 2:20

"That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God."

Colossians 1:10

I remember reading 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 (as listed above). I read "that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again." This was very convicting for me because even in the times where I have no motivation, I am called to not live for myself but to live this life for the Lord.

I don't know if you are similar to me in this situation. You could be drained, tired, weary, bound by circumstances, in a season of drought, etc. However, we are called to live this life for the Lord! My challenge and encouragement to you is to live this life to honor and glorify the Lord! We are not on this earth for ourselves. We are called to make His Name known and to live a life that is for Him!

If you haven't been living your life for the Lord, let this new year be the beginning of a beautiful journey of honoring Him with your life.

Prayer Points: Please pray over these requests:

·        Father, I thank You for using such ordinary people for Your Kingdom's work.

·        God, help me to put aside my selfish desires to live this life for You.

·        Father, help me to live a life that is honoring to You.

·        God, I ask for people to not see me in this life, but to see You through me.

Dear Father,

Thank You for new beginnings and the grace that You so graciously extend to us, even though we are so undeserving of it. Thank You for the truth that is found in Your Word! God, I ask that You will help me to live a life that is honoring and glorifying to You. Help me to put my selfish desires behind me and to live this life unto You! Father, I ask that people will not see me, but see You through me. Thank You for Your kindness and using me for Your Kingdom's work. I love You, Lord. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

With Love,

Brooke Hartley
